Under-20s beat EC São Bernardo in the Campeonato Paulista

On Saturday morning, São Paulo defeated EC São Bernardo 3-1 at Estádio do Taboão, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), in the sixth round of the Campeonato Paulista. Tricolor’s goals were scored by Djhordney, Juan Potes, and Lucyan.

The opening minutes of the match were marked by plenty of aerial battles and few scoring chances. São Paulo’s first big opportunity came in the 25th minute, when Lucyan played a beautiful long ball to Robert, who controlled it, shook off his marker and, with no room to shoot, passed to Davi. The forward tried to find Djhordney in the box, but the opposing defense cleared the danger. Two minutes later, however, the Made in Cotia side opened the scoring. The move started with goalkeeper João Nazari, who began the buildup from the back. Juan Potes received the ball out wide, attacked the space, and found Djhordney inside the area. Wearing the No. 11 shirt, he dribbled past a defender and finished accurately to make it 1-0.

Right after the break, the opponent equalized in the very first minute by capitalizing on a counterattack to level the score. Even after conceding, Tricolor kept up the intensity and regained the lead in the 17th minute. Matheus Ferreira won the ball back with strong pressing and found Robert, who delivered a precise through ball for Bezerra. The midfielder passed it to Juan Potes, who struck firmly to score São Paulo’s second goal.

Then, in the 43rd minute, Guilherme Reis took a throw-in into the box. The defense tried to clear it, but Léo came out on top in the challenge, burst down the left, beat four defenders, and squared it for Lucyan. The full-back arrived unmarked, finished, and put the final score on the match: 3-1 to São Paulo.

With the win, the team coached by Júlio Baptista reached 13 points in the state tournament after five matches played. The campaign includes four wins and one draw, a performance that places Tricolor second in Group 2, behind only Ibrachina.

The Under-20s’ next match will be on Saturday (18) at 3 p.m. against Velo Clube at Estádio Benito Agnelo Castellano, in Rio Claro (SP), in the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista. The match will be broadcast live on Paulistão’s YouTube channel.
