Chelsea held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge despite the Blues going down to 10 men following a rash challenge from Moises Caicedo.

The influential Chelsea midfielder left the West Londoners with a mountain to climb, but his teammates rallied to deliver an inspired performance.

Right-back/midfielder Reece James was a difference-maker in the engine room and stole the show, but Trevoh Chalobah also put in a terrific, underrated display.

Chalobah won five of his seven duels, made six clearances, and scored to give Chelsea the lead in what was another brilliant performance from the Cobham Academy graduate.

Football London gave Chalobah an 8/10 rating and said, “Leapt above everyone, and his effort had enough to beat David Raya.

“Aside from that, they defended really well. He has shown some fantastic form recently.”

The 26-year-old has grown into an influential figure in the rearguard, contributing three goals while helping to keep six clean sheets in 12 league appearances.

Earlier this season, he came under scrutiny, but defensive partner Tosin Adarabioyo was clearly derailing the England international.

Alongside Wesley Fofana, Chalobah has been more assured at the back. He is an often underrated but key figure in this team. He was almost as good as James yesterday.

Last term, Chelsea wanted to sell Chalobah and even sent him on loan to Crystal Palace to get him off the books.

Even when the club disrupted that loan to bring him back, he put his head down and delivered some solid performances to help Chelsea close the season spectacularly.

Chalobah has been equally excellent this term and will hope that these performances secure his future at Stamford Bridge.

With Aaron Anselmino performing incredibly well on loan and Mamadou Sarr also poised to return, the Blues might be tempted to put Chalobah on the sell list again.

That would be a massive mistake. Chalobah has proven his value to the team and should be a mainstay going forward.
