Instead of focusing on the usual stars like Harry Kane or Alejandro Grimaldo, this article will focus on five players who flew under the radar, but still put up strong Fantasy performances on Matchday 5, all with under 10% ownership.
For each player, there will be a quick recap of their latest performance and an outlook on whether they are worth picking up for the upcoming matchday.Noahkai Banks, FC Augsburg - DEF (1.49M, 0%)Banks came on in the 59th minute against Heidenheim and still managed to earn 118 Fantasy points, an impressive return given the short time on the pitch.
He is unlikely to break into the starting lineup just yet, but at only 1.49M he is a great budget option to strengthen the bench.
Jens Castrop, Borussia Mönchengladbach - MID (3.5M, 0%)Castrop once again started and was among the few bright spots in Gladbach’s poor first half. In the second half, he scored the opener in their four-goal comeback and finished with 282 Fantasy points.
As the only attacking player not subbed off, he should keep his place in Gladbach’s starting eleven, and at 3.5M he looks like excellent value for midfield.
Nicolai Remberg, Hamburger SV - MID (5.2M, 0%)Averaging 117 points so far this season, Remberg surprised with 206 points in Hamburg’s goalless draw against Union.
While it was a strong outing, it looks more like an exception than the norm, and at 5.2M he does not offer enough consistency to recommend as a Fantasy asset.
Andreas Hanche-Olsen, Mainz 05 - DEF (5.79M, 0%)Hanche-Olsen picked up 229 Fantasy points against Dortmund thanks to his strength in duels.
With over 200 points in each of his last two games, he could have a strong return in the next game against Hamburg, but I wouldn’t expect much more than what he offers right now.
Konrad Laimer, FC Bayern München - MID (7.55M, 5%)Listed as a midfielder, Laimer took his role on the left defensive side for Bayern. Against Bremen, he scored the 4th goal for Bayern and picked up 297 points in Fantasy.
With Davies and Stanisic sidelined, he has secured a key role and looks set in Bayern’s line-up. The only thing to consider is that he would likely be the third Bayern player in most squads alongside Kane and Olise, but at his price and given his recent form, he remains a very strong option.
