With Danilho Doekhi and Diogo Leite set to leave 1. FC Union Berlin when their contracts expire this summer, the German capital club are in need of reinforcements at the back.

Following reports that Die Eisernen have agreed a deal to sign Marvin Friedrich from Borussia Mönchengladbach, it now appears they are set to complete another centre-back signing.

According to Bild and Radio Marca, Union are in advanced talks to sign Eray Cömert from Valencia CF.

Since Cömert’s contract with the La Liga side expires at the end of the season, he will be available on a free transfer this summer.

The Swiss international has spent three and a half years at Valencia. This season, he has made 18 appearances, scoring two goals.
