Zeki Celik’s recent performances, culminating in his goal against Udinese from a Mancini assist, aren’t just impressing at Trigoria.
The Turkish full-back, who has become a versatile and valuable asset in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad, is out of contract next June, a situation that has drawn scrutiny from Europe’s top clubs, particularly the Premier League.
According to the English portal TEAMtalk, interest in Celik is strong.
Manchester United are keen to acquire him as early as January to secure the right flank, taking advantage of the opportunity to make a lower offer with six months to go.
Other English powerhouses such as Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are also monitoring the situation and have already conducted inquiries.
At Roma, sporting director Frederic Massara has already begun talks with the player’s team regarding a contract extension.
The Roman club’s goal is to reach an agreement with the defender before the official opening of the winter transfer window, thus avoiding the possibility of foreign or Italian temptations, such as Juventus’ previous expression of interest.
Célik, who has seen a true technical resurgence since Ranieri’s arrival and has confirmed his high-level performances under Gasperini, has proven to be an extremely useful asset, deployed both as a defensive “arm” and as a central midfielder.
The initial stages of negotiations with the former Lille player appear promising, but the sudden onslaught of the Premier League could complicate Roma’s plans.
