The United States is already looking beyond the 2026 tournament it is co-hosting, with interest in staging the 2038 World Cup.

The BBC reports that Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the White House World Cup task force, indicated the country could bid for 2038.

The 2026 edition is the first with 48 teams. The tournament could rise to 64 nations as early as the next cycle, and Giuliani said the United States can handle that.

A formal American bid has not been announced, with the priority set on completing this World Cup by 19 July before any pitch for 2038 or other editions.

The 2038 tournament is the next World Cup due to undergo a bidding process, and France would be encouraged to take part.
