Unnamed Saudi club makes contact with departing France manager Didier Deschamps

An unnamed Saudi club has made contact with Didier Deschamps to enquire about his services, the France manager has told Téléfoot. Deschamps has previously confirmed that his 14-year tenure as Les Bleus boss will come to an end after the 2026 World Cup, for which France are still not qualified. Les Bleus need to win against Ukraine on Thursday to seal their place for the tournament at the earliest opportunity.

Free agent Zinédine Zidane is widely regarded as the favourite to take over France, but Deschamps’ future remains shrouded in mystery. The 1998 and 2018 World Cup winner hinted that he was in no mood to take a break from coaching. Will he be lured by the riches of the Saudi Pro League? Asked if a Saudi club reached out to him, Deschamps said that he “had contacts“.
