Tiago Esgaio decided it in the 46th minute with a left-foot finish, giving Arouca a 1-0 win over Estrela Amadora.

After the restart, the defender arrived on the right of the six-yard box to steer his shot into the bottom right corner, a composed touch that broke the game open.

Esgaio then led the resistance. He won five aerial duels and made five clearances as Estrela Amadora pressed for a response, repeatedly shutting down crosses and second balls.

In the first minute of second half stoppage time he won a free-kick on the right, easing pressure and helping Arouca see it through.
