Michael Cooper preserved the tie in the 62nd minute with a low save, as Sheffield United drew 0-0 with Birmingham City. The goalkeeper's composure steadied a spell when Birmingham were on top.

He read the danger early and dived to his left to push away a right-footed effort from the left of the box (62.). Jay Stansfield had found space, but Cooper's positioning narrowed the angle and the ball was turned clear.

Moments later he tipped another Stansfield strike from outside the area towards the top corner (66.). From there, the Blades settled, with their keeper continuing to claim high deliveries as Birmingham chased a breakthrough.

Cooper finished with two saves, four high claims and a punch, numbers that underlined how he controlled his box during a barrage of set plays. He also completed nine successful passes into the final third, turning defence into attack when the Blades needed an outlet.

Because Birmingham funnelled attacks wide and delivered repeated corners, Cooper's willingness to come off his line kept second balls to a minimum and ensured the Blades held territory when it mattered most.

Next up, the Blades visit Swansea City, while Birmingham host Bristol City.
