Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United are now working to tie Kobbie Mainoo down to a long-term deal after agreeing new terms with Harry Maguire.
The centre-half’s new contract was announced this morning by club media, with it now confirmed that he will be staying put at Old Trafford until June 2027, plus the option of an additional year.

Romano took to X/Twitter to add that resolving Mainoo’s future was ‘up next’ for the Reds, as they look to reward the midfield starlet with an improved salary.
Should Mainoo agree to what he’s currently being offered, he is expected to sign a deal until 2031, making it crystal clear just how integral club chiefs consider him.
It’s been a pretty remarkable turn of events, given the 20-year-old was pushing for a move away from Old Trafford last year.
His sheer lack of action under Ruben Amorim left him no choice but to try and pursue a new venture elsewhere, even if only on loan. However, United blocked his attempts to leave, insisting that the youngster had to stay put and fight for his place.
It wasn’t until Michael Carrick was appointed that Mainoo was rightfully restored to the starting XI alongside veteran counterpart Casemiro, where he has stayed ever since.

His stellar efforts in red also saw him recalled to the England setup for the first time since September 2024, and it’s now anticipated that the Carrington graduate is in line to make Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad come the end of the season.
Until then, though, his sole focus is ensuring United secure their spot in the Champions League for 2026/2027.
They resume their quest with a clash at home to rivals Leeds United next Monday, before travelling to face Chelsea, who’ve lost three of their last five league matches, on April 28.
