Matt Godden put Nathan Jones’ side ahead at Vicarage Road before Nestory Irankunda secured a point for the hosts with a 74th minute strike.

The Addicks earned their first point since their 1-1 draw against Oxford United on 14 March, with the draw maintaining their eight point gap to the bottom three.

Each of the bottom seven drew in their Easter Monday fixtures, leaving everything as it was but with one fewer game left for anything to change.

The London outfit are winless in their last four games, with their last victory coming against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough at the Riverside on 11 March.

However, Charlton may just have enough of a gap to survive their first year back in the second tier after gaining promotion last year through the play-offs.

Conor Coady was forced off with a head injury in the final moments of their 1-1 draw against Watford, with the defender being knocked unconscious when blocking a shot.

Charlton have offered an update on the defender’s condition, confirming that he has been discharged from hospital following the incident.

The Addicks have thanked the Watford medical staff for their swift response to his injury, but no timeline has been given for a potential return to the team.

“Conor Coady has been discharged from hospital following a head injury sustained in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Watford at Vicarage Road,” wrote the club, via their website.

“The 33-year-old was knocked unconscious after being struck by a shot in stoppage time.

“He was stretchered off and taken to a local hospital, where he underwent a series of scans.

“Coady has since been given the all-clear and was discharged this evening.

“The club would like to thank Watford's medical staff for their support and assistance.

“Charlton's medical staff will continue to monitor him in line with the appropriate protocols.”

Coady has been a consistent presence in Jones’ side in recent weeks after he joined the Addicks on loan from Wrexham during the January window.

The defender struggled for game time for the Red Dragons, making just five appearances, leading to his temporary exit in the winter market.

The 33-year-old made his debut for the Addicks in a 2-0 win against Leicester City on 31 January, and he’s now played for the club on nine occasions, including eight starts.

However, it remains to be seen when he will be capable of making a return to the side, with just five fixtures left to go.

Charlton are still 18th in the Championship table following the 1-1 draw against Watford, with the team eight points clear of 22nd place Leicester City.

The Addicks need seven points from their remaining games to ensure their survival in the division for another season.

Next up for Jones’ side is a home clash against Preston North End on 11 April in a 3pm kick-off.

Charlton will be relieved at Conor Coady situation

It was a frightening sight to see Coady out cold against Watford, so it will come as a relief to the team that he has been released from hospital.

It’s likely he won’t be back in time for the game against Preston this weekend, which will come as a blow for the club, but at least he’s okay.

Head injuries are incredibly serious, and the Watford medical staff providing assistance shows the importance of teams working together for the safety of players.

It’s possible Coady might have played his last game for the Addicks, at least as part of this loan spell, given how few weeks are left in the season and how long he could potentially be out for as a result of this injury.
