The Serb joined the Baggies on loan from Sassuolo last month, and earned his first start of the season in his side’s 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle last weekend.

The 26-year-old was an assured presence in the middle of the pitch for the Black Country outfit, as they extended their unbeaten start to the 24/25 campaign to six matches after seeing off the Pilgrims.

Racic barely put a foot wrong in his first full outing for Albion, and with the loanee loving every second of life in England, Carlos Corberan’s side may already have thoughts of a permanent deal next summer.

Baggies fans had only seen glimpses of Racic before the weekend, with a 25-minute cameo against Swansea City coming before the international break, before a similar stint on the pitch against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

But with Jayson Molumby ruled out through injury, the Serb walked straight into the starting lineup for the visit of Wayne Rooney’s side, and immediately looked like he had been playing in that position for years.

With his imposing stature in the middle of the park, the Albion loanee broke up many of the visitors attempts at countering, while also acting as a springboard for many of his own side’s bouts of possession.

After earning his first start for the club, Racic took to Instagram to state just how pleased he is with life in the Black Country, stating:

“I started playing football out of love like most kids; I have that exact same feeling for the first time in a long time.

“I look forward to every training and new match, just like every assist and goal. It’s such a great feeling being able to help the team achieve points in the most important of games.

“I would truly love to remain fit and healthy and allow for further great matches to unfold till the end of the season.”

It hasn’t taken long for Racic to look at home in the Baggies midfield, with his all-action display at the weekend proving he is more than capable of holding his own in the English second tier.

Having started out at Red Star Belgrade in his homeland, the midfielder was associate with Valencia for five years, although spells in and out of the side coincided with loan stints across Europe.

That will have undoubtedly had an effect on the Serb’s enjoyment of the game, with his move to Italy last summer likely to have been in search of a fresh start in the game.

But after starting just eight matches for Sassuolo across the previous campaign, the midfielder now looks right at home both on and off the field with the Baggies, with both player and club benefiting from the summer’s deal to bring him to England.

With the new arrival already loving life in his new surroundings, Albion will feel early confidence that should things continue at their current rate, they can strike a permanent deal in the summer. He already looks like he will add plenty in the engine room as the Baggies continue their promotion push.
