Uruguay kicked off their Copa América campaign with a comfortable win over Group C rivals Panama.

As the favourites to win the group, it was on Uruguay to come out of the blocks firing, and they did just that.

The first blow landed inside 25 minutes when Maximiliano AraĂșjo cut in from the wing before firing a scorcher into the back of the net to open the scoring.

Bielsa’s side had the chances to double their lead, the best of which fell to Darwin NĂșñez, but somehow the Liverpool man could not put the ball either side of the striker from point-blank range.

NĂșñez made up for his earlier miss, firing a volley home in the dying minutes before MatĂas Viña headed home from a set-piece, driving the final nails into the Panamanian coffin.

A late Michael Murillo strike found the back of the net, but it was merely consolation.

Next up for Uruguay is a showdown with Bolivia, while Panama will take on the United States.

USA 2-0 Boliva

Scorers: Pulisic 3â€Č, Balogun 44â€Č

The United States started their Copa América campaign off with a bang, comfortably defeating Bolivia thanks to two first-half goals.

The Stars and Stripes got off to a flying start as skipper Christian Pulisic showed exactly why he is the man tasked with leading this team from the front, firing home a stunning strike off of a short corner to bring the crowd to its feet inside three minutes.

While they knocked on the door for much of the first-half, it took until the dying minutes for the United States to find their second. This time it was the relentless Folarin Balogun who picked out the bottom-corner on the break.

Bolivia did not make it easy for the hosts, but the American strikers were rather wasteful in front of goal to boot. Luckily for Gregg Berhlater’s side, Bolivia did little to trouble Matt Turner in goal, ensuring the United States could coast to their first win in the group.
