According to Uruguayan journalistMartin Chaquero, who retains credible ties to the national team camp, an agreement is in place for Nunez to return to Anfield.

The 26-year-old has been tentatively linked with a return to Anfield in the English media, as Liverpool look to combat the loss of Hugo Ekitike to a serious Achilles injury. Ekitike is not anticipated to return until 2027 and Nunez would offer an alternative to Alexander Isak in attack.
