USA seeks top of group finish in FIFA U-20 World Cup

MIAMI – The FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 continues on Sunday, as the United States of America meets South Africa in Group E at Estadio El Teniente in Rancagua, Chile.
The USA leads the group with a 2-0-0 record. The United States will conclude its Group Stage participation seeking to retain its first place standing.
The U.S. is coming off a 3-nil win over France. Zavier Gozo shined with the opening goal and delivered an assist to Brooklyn Raines to seal the victory. Gozo was denied by the crossbar as Marcos Zambrano added a third for the U.S. off the rebound.
The Stars and Stripes opened the tournament with a 9-1 victory over New Caledonia. Benjamin Cremaschi struck a hat-trick and Nolan Norris scored a brace, with the rest of the goals provided by Niko Tsakiris, Frankie Westfield, Taha Habroune and Cole Campbell.
United States vs. South Africa
This will be the first-ever meeting between the United States and South Africa in FIFA U-20 World Cup history.
For the U.S., it will be their 13th encounter against an African side in the competition, holding a record of 7 wins, 1 draw and 4 defeats (GF-17, GA-12).
