USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino features on Real Madrid’s managerial shortlist to replace Alvaro Arbeloa, according to a report from RMC Sport.

Pochettino will lead the US national team at their home World Cup this summer, however, his contract with the USMNT will expire upon the conclusion of the tournament, which will also be held in Canada and Mexico.

He could be in line for a return to club management, RMC Sport understands. The Argentine features on the shortlist to replace Arbeloa at Real Madrid. The news comes in the wake of Los Blancos’ exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. 

Klopp and Deschamps also on Real Madrid’s shortlist

Florentino Perez has already made enquiries regarding Pochettino’s profile and his capacity to handle the pressure associated with the job at the Bernabeu. In addition, Jurgen Klopp is someone who is appreciated, although the German recently repeated that he did not envisage a return to management. 

As reported by RMC Sport earlier this month, Didier Deschamps, who will leave the France national team at the end of the World Cup, is also on the shortlist.
