The University of São Paulo will stage Semana Corinthians from four to six May, a first-time academic event examining the club across historical, cultural and social angles.
According to Meu Timao, the club’s cultural department announced the initiative on Tuesday via social media, with the full programme to follow in the coming days. It includes an academic symposium with researchers, professionals, institutional representatives and guests.
The proposal is to analyse Timão’s relationship with major currents in Brazilian society over time. Expected discussions include football’s role in confronting racism, promoting social inclusion, and the club’s contribution to developing the sport in the country.
Activities will be held at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, known as USP Leste, specifically in the Red Auditorium of EACH. The venue is noted for its interdisciplinary focus, linking teaching, research, outreach and initiatives tied to sport and culture.
USP is recognised as Brazil’s largest higher education and research hub. It ranks second in Latin America in the QS World University Rankings and plays a strategic role in the nation’s scientific and technological progress.
