The University of São Paulo will stage an academic week dedicated to Corinthians in early May, assessing the club through historical, cultural and social lenses. Titled Semana Corinthians, it is an unprecedented gathering at the institution.
According to Meu Timao, the event runs from four to six May and will feature an academic symposium bringing together researchers, professionals, institutional representatives and invited guests. A fuller programme is set to be outlined in the coming days.
The proposal is to examine how the Timão intersects with major currents in Brazilian society over time. Debates are expected to cover football’s role in confronting racism, promoting social inclusion, and the club’s contribution to the sport’s development in the country.
Sessions will take place at the Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades, known as USP Leste, specifically in the Auditório Vermelho da EACH. The venue is recognised for an interdisciplinary approach that links teaching, research, outreach, sport and culture.
The University of São Paulo is the country’s largest hub for higher education and research. It ranks second in Latin America in the QS World University Rankings and plays a strategic role in Brazil’s scientific and technological progress.
