Utrecht U-turn on ‘irresponsible’ El Karouani deal | OneFootball

Breaking news from Utrecht: Souffian El Karouani will not be transferring to Spartak Moscow. De Telegraaf and Voetbal International have learned that the supervisory board, shareholders, and management of FC Utrecht consider it “irresponsible” to do business with the Russian club.

Utrecht will therefore miss out on a transfer fee of over six million euros, while El Karouani will continue with the Domstedelingen.

Everything this week pointed to El Karouani continuing his career at Spartak. The Russian club had been tailing him for some time and recently submitted a final offer of six million euros plus half a million in bonuses to Utrecht.

Now, an unexpected turn of events has occurred: despite Utrecht’s potential transfer income, they are unwilling to do business with Spartak, and a move for El Karouani to that club is now off the table.
