We’re closing in on the end of the first-ever UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage and spots in the quarter-finals were for grabs.

Here is what went down on matchday five.

Dominant Chelsea frustrated by Juventus

Wednesday’s mouth-watering clash saw Juventus do just enough to hold Chelsea to a 0-0 draw meaning the Group of Death goes down to the wire.

The hosts had the better chances throughout the first half and almost scored in the opening 60 seconds but goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud Magnin kept things 0-0.

Erin Cuthbert, Ji So-yun and Sam Kerr continuously threatened Juventus who were struggling to make it out of their own half. However, last-ditch defending from the visitors kept things deadlocked.

The momentum continued for the hosts after the break and Kerr thought she had opened the scoring after finishing off a cross from Fran Kirby but she was ruled offside.

With time running out, both managers opted for a handful of substitutions in hopes of finding a late goal. Despite countless attempts from Chelsea, Cecilia Salvai, Martina Lenzini and company managed to redirect every shot seeing things end 0-0.

The result means only three points separate Chelsea (first), Wolfsburg (second) and Juventus (third) heading into matchday six.

Asllani sends Real Madrid into the quarter-finals

Scorers: Asllani 10′, 40′ (P), Zornoza 82′

Following Kharkiv’s loss, Real Madrid eyed all three points against Breidablik and a 3-0 win secures them a spot in the quarter-finals.

The visitors got off to a strong start after Kosovare Asllani poked home a slow-rolling ball on a snowy pitch to make things 1-0 at the 10-minute mark.

Then just before the half, the Swedish international would go on to double the lead from the penalty spot.

Coming out after the break momentum continued in favour of the visitors as they continued to push for more goals.

And despite the very snowy conditions, Real Madrid then went on to score again through Claudia Zornoza seeing things end 3-0.

High-flying Paris Saint-Germain dominate; Kharkiv eliminated

Scorers: Huitema 15′, Bachmann 21′, 40′ Baltimore 37′, Fazer 44′, Ilestedt 54′

Group B winners Paris Saint-Germain didn’t hold anything back against Kharkiv in their dominant 6-0 win.

Right from the first whistle, the visitors maintained control of the match. Sandy Baltimore, in particular, was a threat down the wing floating in countless crosses only to see one land on the head of Jordyn Huitema for 1-0.

Six minutes later, the Canadian teed up Ramona Bachmann to double the lead.

Just before halftime, Baltimore scored one of her own, Bachmann secured a brace and 18-year-old Laurina Fazer scored from way downtown for 5-0.

Coming out after the break the momentum continued for the visitors with Amanda Ilestedt getting in on the action. Kharkiv, however, did have a few chances to ruin any clean sheet hopes but fell just short.

Despite a commanding win, the match would end on a sour note for the visitors after Estelle Cascarino was sent off.

Kharkiv have now been eliminated following Real Madrid’s win.

Wolfsburg fight it out for three big points

Scorers: Pereira 21′ (OG); Roord 83′, Waßmuth 90+3′

Sitting third in what can be considered the Group of Death, Wolfsburg had their sights set on all three points and a 3-0 win moves them into the top two.

The opening minutes of the match were a nervy affair as both sides tested the other. Yet the visitors had better opportunities going forward.

It wasn’t until an unfortunate own-goal from goalkeeper Inês Pereira that the deadlock broke.

Tabea Waßmuth’s shot from the middle of the box hit off the post, leaving the goalkeeper scrambling, and the ball bounced off her knee and in.

Coming out after the break, Wolfsburg looked to put the game to bed but Servette continued to keep the scoreline down despite just one shot and less than 30 percent possession.

Eventually, the pressure was too much and Jill Roord doubled the lead before Waßmuth made things 3-0 late in the match.

Wolfsburg now sit second in Group A with everything to play for on matchday six.
