Champions turn on the style

Scorers: Ouahabi 10′, Rölfo 29′, Alexia 44′, Engen 65′, Martens 73′

Barcelona

With Køge’s task already a thankless one, they fell behind to a frustrating goal when Leila Ouahabi appeared to attempt to float a cross from the left to the far post, only for it to elude everyone and find the net.

That same flank continued causing problems for the visitors and helped the holders to double their lead when early substitute Fridolina Rolfö enjoyed an instant impact by glancing home a header from Alexia Putellas’ cross.

The Ballon d’Or winner then got in on the act herself before the interval thanks to a fantastic flick and volley to show just why she got her hands on the top award.

After the break, Ingrid Engen kept the scoring up with a simple close range finish and then Lieke Martens grabbed the best of the game when she clipped home a beautiful 35-yard chip after spotting the goalkeeper off the line.

Arsenal advance despite a scare

Scorers: Brand 22′, Hagel 55′, 57′, Corley 60′; Wienroither OG 38′

Arsenal had to live on their nerves late on in Germany as they survived a mini scare en route to reaching the quarter-finals.

With Hoffenheim requiring a five-goal win to pip Arsenal to qualification, they did eat into that somewhat when Jule Brand beat stand-in goalkeeper Lydia Williams following a neat move.

But any extreme hopes they may have had were snuffed out seven minutes before half-time when Laura Wienroither put through her own net after a strike from Beth Mead was spilled in the area.

However, they refused to give up and were soon back in front when a quickfire brace from Chantal Hagel turned the game back in Hoffenheim’s favour.

It then became severe nerves for Arsenal on the hour mark as Gia Corley headed past Williams to really have her side dreaming of the two goals that would pull off the great escape.

Lyon breeze through as winners

Scorers: Macario 35′, Hegerberg 52′, Henry 76′, Cayman 79′

Lyon cruised into the knockout stages as group winners with a routine win over Häcken.

Catarina Macario gave them the lead 10 minutes before half-time in amusing fashion when a clearance off her shin clattered against the crossbar and she pounced quickly on the rebound to turn it into the empty net.

In-form Ada Hegerberg then notched her 56th Champions League goal with a simple finish after a low cross from the left to put the contest beyond doubt.

Amadine Henry scored her second of the season by latching onto a defensive lapse following a short goal kick and made it three before Janice Cayman completed the scoring shortly afterwards with an excellent swivel and finish.

Bayern advance as runners-up

Scorers: Vilhjálmsdóttir 26′, Schüller 28′, Gwinn pen 48′, Bühl 49

Bayern Munich thrashed Benfica in their final group game, although it wasn’t enough to snare top spot from Lyon’s grasp.

After the visitors held out for the opening quarter, Bayern punished them with two goals in 149 seconds as Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir pounced on a poor pass back to finish before Lea Schüller headed in from a corner.

Shortly after half-time, Benfica again shipped two goals in as many minutes – Giulia Gwinn first scoring from the penalty spot and then Klara Bühl exploited another slack pass to run through and make it four.
