The club said that Vahid Halilhodzic has returned as head coach, replacing Ahmed Kantari. Nantes are 17th and in the relegation places with nine league matches remaining.

He becomes their third coach of the season after Luis Castro and Kantari. Nantes lost 1-0 to Angers at the weekend.

Halilhodzic, 73, has not coached since 2022 following his departure from the Morocco national team.

His last club job was also at Nantes. He left in 2019 after disagreements with the hierarchy, which remains in place.

It marks a reunion with Nantes after his previous spell.
