Valencia travel to Oviedo tomorrow as Fallas take over the city. In casals and bars the festivities will mingle with the match, a period that often overlaps the season’s decisive stretch. These dates have rarely been kind over the past decade.
As reported by AS, in that period Valencia have managed only two wins during Fallas.
The latest came on San José in 2022, a 0-1 at Elche sealed by Guedes that kept them in the hunt for Europe. That side reached the Copa del Rey final and did not win again in La Liga until the final day against Celta.
The other success was on 17 March 2018, a 3-1 win over Alavés.
Otherwise it has been draws and defeats. In 2017, on 19 March, Barcelona beat Valencia 4-2 at Camp Nou. In 2019, on 17 March, Getafe held them 0-0 at Mestalla.
There was no football in 2020 due to the pandemic. In 2021, on 12 March, they lost 1-0 at the Ciutat against Levante. In 2023, on 18 March, they were beaten 3-0 at the Metropolitano.
In 2024, on 18 March, they fell 1-0 in the derby at La Cerámica. Last season, on 15 March, they drew 1-1 with Girona.
