Cadena SER reports that the hearing is scheduled for 17 February 2027 in Valencia, as Valencia and Netflix go to trial over the documentary 'Baila, Vini' centred on Vinicius Jr.

The dispute stems from the portrayal of events during Valencia v Real Madrid on 21 May 2023. The club says its supporters were misrepresented by captions rendering chants as “mono, mono” rather than “tonto, tonto” as the player left the pitch after his red card.

Valencia argues the footage was manipulated and subtitled incorrectly, and distinguishes this incident from the racist abuse Vinicius reported during the match, after which the club acted against fans identified behind one of the goals.

On 19 May 2025, the club formally requested a correction from Brazilian producer Conspiração Filmes and from Netflix, as well as compensation for alleged reputational damage. The producer rejected any rectification, shutting down an out-of-court solution.

The lawsuit was admitted by the Juzgado de Primera Instancia número 16 de València, which will decide whether there was an intrusion into the club’s right to honour and any resulting liabilities from the broadcast.

Valencia is seeking damages, the correction of the disputed captions and content, and, in the event of an adverse ruling, publication of the judgment. Months of talks failed to deliver a settlement.
