Valencia have completed a deadline day loan move for Aston Villa midfielder Enzo Barrenechea.
The two clubs have been locked in talks since mid-August, and the deal looked to be over, as Villa pulled out due to numerous injury concerns in Unai Emery’s squad.
However, with Los Che determined to revive the move, Villa reopened talks in the final hours of the transfer window.
The 23-year-old jetted out to Spain to complete the remaining paperwork with a loan deal in place until the end of the season.
The agreement does not include a purchase clause at the end of the 2024/25 campaign but Valencia will cover his full Villa salary in the coming months.
Barrenechea joined Villa this summer as part of a multi-player deal which took Douglas Luiz to Juventus but he was not in Emery’s immediate plans.
Villa be hopeful he gains some vital experience at the Estadio Mestalla ahead of a return to the Premier League next summer.
