Valencia have confirmed right-back Thierry Rendall has suffered a left hamstring injury, with no timescale disclosed for his recovery.

The club said in a statement that the problem occurred during Saturday's home regional derby draw with Elche, and that he will follow a medical, physiotherapy and reconditioning plan at the training ground until his condition improves.

It is his first significant muscle issue since he returned a few months ago from a serious knee injury that kept him out for almost the entire 2024/25 campaign.

The muscle problem will rule him out of several matches, so Djibril Foulquier will have to take on the right-back role again.

He does so in what is likely his toughest spell as a Valencia player, with the fanbase more critical than ever.
