Valencia have completed the signing of Ryunosuke Sato from FC Tokyo, with the 19-year-old agreeing a contract until 2031. He becomes the club’s first Japanese player to feature for the men’s first team.

Sato passed medical tests at IMED on Monday, then trained separately from the group on Tuesday morning. The move is worth around four million euros.

A right-footer who can operate across the attack, he has featured off the left, on his natural flank and through the middle. He is noted for pace, combination play and close control in tight spaces.

Developed at FC Tokyo’s academy, he became the club’s youngest ever debutant in 2023 at 16. A loan to Fagiano Okayama in 2025 proved pivotal, earning the J1 League Young Player of the Year award and a fan-voted All-Star berth.

Back at FC Tokyo last season, he recorded six goals and one assist in 19 matches. Internationally he won the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, was named player of the tournament and finished top scorer with four goals. He made his senior Japan debut in June 2025 and has since won five caps, becoming the youngest Japanese to appear in a World Cup qualifier.
