Valencia are primed for another summer rebuild, with right-back the urgent priority, and talks remain open to sign Aston Villa’s Andrés García. Tribuna Deportiva reports advanced negotiations for the 23-year-old for 2026/27, with the Valencian regarded as the leading option.

On 18 April, club interest led by Carlos Corberán made García the preferred target for the right side. Valencia had already decided against keeping Thierry Rendall beyond 30 June and would sell Dimitri Foulquier if his salary demands are met, with one year left on his deal.

If Foulquier departs, a second signing is planned. The brief is a full refresh at right-back, with recent physical doubts over Foulquier contrasting with the reliability behind last year’s renewal. As usual under Lim, the budget will dictate.

Talks have intensified and García remains the top pick for CEO of Football Ron Gourlay and the coaching staff. Alternatives stay active while discussions with Villa continue, and García can also operate higher on the right. Pablo Maffeo remains in play after Mallorca’s relegation to Segunda.

García joined Villa in January 2025 from Levante for seven million euros plus variables, with a 15% sell-on for Levante. Valencia prefer a loan with an option to buy. Unai Emery is more receptive after granting only 109 minutes this season, and Real Betis also hold interest. The València-born player favours a LaLiga return for regular minutes.
