Javi Guerra led Valencia in a breathless night in San Sebastián, scoring twice to keep the tilt for Europe alive. His second was a brilliant slaloming strike past four home players. As reported by AS, these were the standout and underperforming displays.

Guerra first levelled at 1-1. Diego López supplied the assist for that goal and Hugo Duro also scored, reaching 10 league goals. Guido made it 3-3, before Guerra sealed it with the winner.

Dimitrievski conceded three but was again among Valencia's best, producing a fine save from Oskarsson and with a deserved renewal to come. Cömert was dismissed in San Sebastián, so will serve a suspension against Barcelona, though he did set up Duro and may have played his last game.

Unai Nuñez, picked by Corberán at right back, was steady. Tárrega's own goal summed up a disappointing finish to his season. Vázquez stood out, diligent at the back and involved in attack, justifying a bigger role.

Rioja faded after a punishing week yet showed commitment. Ugrinic rode the game's swings, dominant at times and overrun at others. Guido's strike, which made it 3-3, confirmed survival without relying on others and underlined his importance.
