Sato lit up Valencia's display on his LaLiga debut, yet Danjuma squandered the clearest openings. According to AS, Javi Guerra was the standout in a side that shifted repeatedly.
Stole Dimitrievski saved Febas's long-range effort on 20 minutes, then was booked for dissent on 39. He later turned away a Javi Rodríguez strike with his opposite hand and held a central effort from Durán after the break.
Left-footed Jesús Vázquez started on the right, which blunted depth on that side, and returned to his natural flank when Gayà departed on 69. Tárrega was assured on the right of the back three despite the risks of the role. Pepelu anchored the trio and used his long passing to steady the build-up.
Gayà brought intensity and effort, though occasional over-impetuousness showed.
De Haas marked his official debut with a booking on 37 for a hand on Carreira's neck, looked a touch slow in his movements and recovery, then was replaced at half-time by Diakhaby, who looked more comfortable, even on the ball. Guido directed the midfield and often dropped into the back line. Ugrinic worked diligently, helped Vázquez on the right and missed a clear chance on the stroke of half-time.
Guerra drove Valencia forward, releasing Ugrinic to face Radu and producing a deft backheel for Danjuma. Sato's energy and pressing thrilled Mestalla. He began wide right, then moved inside. Supporters protested his withdrawal on 57 minutes.
Danjuma started as the lone reference, often looking detached, and dragged a big chance wide from Sato early, then lifted another over on the run after the interval. Sadiq stirred the game after coming on at 57, Maffeo featured despite only one session with the group on 69, and Dieng added more muscle at the same time. Hugo Duro arrived on 82 as the late centre-forward.
