One of the big revelations of Euro 2024 so far has been Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. The 23-year-old has been in sublime form, and he is a big reason for the Easter Europeans’ qualification for the last 16 of the competition, where they will face Spain.
Mamardashvili’s performances in Germany are no surprise to regular watchers of La Liga. He was arguably the best ‘keeper in Spanish football’s top division last season, and he has certainly carried that form into Euro 2024. Valencia will be very proud, but also concerned of interest growing.
Valencia are prepared to sell Mamardashvili this summer, and according to Radio MARCA, they would consider any offer above €40m to be “unrejectable”. Newcastle United had shown interest pre-Euro 2024, and it remains to be seen whether they make another move on the back of his tournament displays.
Valencia are covered in the event of Mamardashvili leaving, as they have already signed Stole Dimitrievski from Rayo Vallecano as a supposed replacement. Still, they are under no obligations to lower their asking price, and it could even rise in the coming weeks. For now, it’s €40m.
