Enzo Barrenechea could leave Benfica in the summer window, with Valencia weighing a move to bring the midfielder back.
According to Glorioso 1904, the La Liga side have been monitoring his situation and are assessing whether to advance for him. He spent the season before joining Benfica on loan at Mestalla.
Valencia were previously close to keeping him, but Benfica offered a more attractive financial package and secured the Argentine. The Mestalla door could reopen a year after his departure.
Valencia, who are also looking at Nicolás Otamendi, have revived their interest after Barrenechea slipped down José Mourinho’s pecking order. The Spanish club want him but are reluctant to meet the €15 million Benfica are seeking to recoup.
This season Barrenechea has played 43 times for Benfica, with 26 in the Liga Portugal Betclic and 13 in the Champions League, plus two in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 2,967 minutes he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
