Valencia are working on a free move for 34-year-old Belgium international Thomas Meunier, whose LOSC Lille contract ends on 30 June, with a view to making him first-choice at right-back in 26/27. He is set to feature at the 2026 World Cup this summer.
According to À Punt Radio’s 90 minuts, Meunier tops the club’s shortlist for the position. The deal is complicated by his wages and rival interest, and Valencia’s absence from Europe does not help.
Valencia are also exploring alternatives, including a loan for 23-year-old Valencian right-back Andrés García from Aston Villa. They intend to add more than one right-back.
The plan is to recruit an established starter and an under-23 option, with Thierry Rendall not being renewed and Dimitri Foulquier facing a lay-off that could run to November.
Elsewhere, Carlos Corberán already has two arrivals secured, Dutch centre-back Justin de Haas and Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng. The club notified Stole Dimitrievski last week of their decision to exercise his option for the next two seasons, to June 2028.
