Valencia have fulfilled Carlos Corberán’s January brief by adding immediate-impact recruits, while keeping summer options alive, notably centre-back De Haas and midfielder Aliou Dieng.
The sporting hierarchy led by Ron Gourlay hold positive reports on both. There is a preliminary agreement for De Haas to arrive once his time at Famelicao ends, and it is suggested he will sign a four-year deal. Radio Valenciana Cadena SER reports the same scenario for Dieng, whose Al-Ahly contract runs until 30 June.
Both were considered for January, but Corberán prioritised winter additions who required no adaptation to Spanish football or language hurdles, criteria met by Sadiq, Unai Núñez and Guido Rodríguez.
The summer approach differs. Economically, De Haas and Dieng fit the parameters Valencia can work with, and with a full pre-season they are seen as capable of fitting Corberán’s plans.
Consequently, the club are looking to move quickly to wrap up these opportunities for the longer-term project.
