Van Bommel names Belgium squad with six Serie A players for Nations League opener in Italy | OneFootball

New Belgium coach Mark van Bommel has unveiled his first Nations League squad, calling up six Serie A players.

According to Football Italia, Belgium are in Group A with Italy, France and Türkiye. They open away to Italy on September 25, then host France on September 28.

They face Türkiye on October 2, then visit France on October 5. The group concludes in Türkiye on November 12 and at home to Italy on November 15.

Van Bommel previously played in Serie A for Milan during the 2011-12 season and replaced Rudi Garcia this summer.

His first call-ups from Serie A are Milan defender Koni De Winter, Bologna’s new signing Arthur Theate, Napoli midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, Parma’s Mandela Keita, Atalanta forward Charles De Ketelaere and Milan winger Diego Moreira.

There are familiar faces too, with Romelu Lukaku and Lois Openda having only recently departed Serie A.
