Kayne Van Oevelen is officially a Valencia player, joining on loan from Ipswich Town with no option to buy. The club said in a statement that it had published his first words, in which he and his family expressed delight and he described the city as fantastic.
He outlined his strengths as a proactive goalkeeper who plays high, is comfortable passing short and long, and is strong in the air. He said he arrives after what he considers his best season as a professional.
Early conversations with goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad and Carlos Corberán left him confident, describing them as very nice people who have given him trust. He has also spoken with compatriot Justin De Haas, who welcomed him to the club.
Van Oevelen voiced admiration for Mestalla and is pleased to have arrived in time to play there in its final year. He added that he is eager to see the stadium again.
Ambitious about the challenge, he has looked at the club’s past trophies and wants to help Valencia recapture those successes.
