The federation announced that every Paulista Feminino match will use VAR, the first women’s football competition in Brazil to do so. FPF will cover all implementation costs.

Clubs unanimously approved a revamped format at the Technical Council meeting on Thursday, 26 March. The championship’s first phase will be a single stage with seven rounds, the top two going straight to the semi-finals. Teams finishing third to sixth will play an extra two-legged tie to complete the last four.

Semi-finals and finals will be played over two legs. The state competition is scheduled to start on 6 May, with the final set for 20 December. The Sereias da Vila await the fixture list.

The field also includes Taubaté, Corinthians, Ferroviária, Mirassol, Palmeiras, Red Bull Bragantino and São Paulo. Last year the Sereias missed the play-offs, dropped into the Copa Paulista and finished runners-up. O Peixe are among the competition’s most successful sides with four titles in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2018.

The new format will lift the average amount paid by the federation to clubs per match by 64%. In total, teams will receive R$ 3 million in fees and prizes, and the champions will also collect R$ 1.04 million.

Matches will be broadcast by Sportv, YouTube/CazéTV, HBO Max, Space and Record News, with the finals also on TV Globo. The competition will start with four sponsors, Assaí, BIS, Centauro and Sil.
