The club announced that Puma Rodríguez has extended his contract until 2027, with an option for a further year. Only legal formalities remain before the deal is signed.

Both parties wanted the renewal. Vasco valued his versatility and quality, with Fernando Diniz praising him, and the player was keen to stay. His representatives did not offer him to other clubs.

Before the Copa do Brasil final, the parties reached a verbal agreement. Talks had begun early in the year but stalled through the first half. By mid-year, his spell seemed near its end, and in July he was left out against Grêmio for technical reasons.

Since then his form in training improved and he earned more minutes from the bench. He became the main alternative to Paulo Henrique and later started at left-back when Lucas Piton was injured.

Rodríguez’s stock rose under Diniz. He continued to be called up by Marcelo Bielsa for Uruguay, starting both games in the last FIFA window, friendlies against Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan.
