Vasco have arrived in São Luís to face Sampaio in two beach soccer friendlies as they prepare for the Supercopa do Brasil de Beach Soccer, scheduled for next month in the Federal District. According to Globo.com, the squad touched down on Wednesday afternoon.

The first match is on Thursday 20 in Cedral at 19:00. The second is on Saturday 22 in Carolina at 9:30.

Head coach Cesinha has a reshaped group compared with the 2025 Libertadores winners and will use the games to hand minutes to younger players. He views the fixtures as a chance to build rhythm across the squad.

Bokinha, a survivor of that title run, stressed the value of the tests. He highlighted the benefit of facing leading Maranhão players such as Datinha and Eudim.

Cesinha said the friendlies in Maranhão are important for rotating his options and giving opportunities to emerging talent. He added that this should leave Vasco better prepared for the Supercopa and help settle the squad for December’s Libertadores.

As reigning Libertadores champions, Vasco already hold a place in the next edition. Their Supercopa campaign, which begins in September, is central to plans to arrive strong for the year-end title defence.
