Vasco have conceded late in their last three away games, turning likely wins into draws and costing six Brasileirão points. According to Globo.com, the recurring issue has left a bitter taste around the squad.

The latest setback came on Saturday against Remo at the Mangueirão, where Vasco led until the 39th minute of the second half before Marllon headed in from a free-kick cross.

After the Remo game, Thiago Mendes called it another bitter point, noting a late concession at Coritiba and saying Botafogo punished them despite offering little. He said they must take clear chances, refocus and improve at set plays, and listen to what Renato Gaúcho has to say. He added the draw left a bitter taste, saying that is football.

The phrase had already been used by Renato Gaúcho and assistant Bruno Lazaroni to describe Tuesday’s result against Barracas Central in the Copa Sudamericana opener.

The pattern also surfaced away to Coritiba at Couto Pereira and Cruzeiro at the Mineirão, with every decisive concession coming from aerial deliveries.

Vasco have 13 points and are 12th this round.
