Vasco have extended forward Rayan’s contract until the end of 2028 and set an 80 million euros release clause, about R$500 million, with the renewal announced shortly after victory over Fluminense.

According to PaponaColina, talks had been ongoing since July and delivered not only the longer deal, which previously ran to 2026, but also a significant pay rise.

The club revealed the agreement in a video on their social media, featuring the Barreira do Vasco and São Januário, and said the story that began in the Barreira has entered a new chapter.

Rayan, the son of former Vasco player Valkmar, joined the club at six and progressed through every youth level before his 2023 promotion to the first team. He became Vasco’s youngest player of the 21st century.

Now 19, he has grown into a leading figure, particularly since coach Fernando Diniz arrived. This season he has 20 goals, 17 of them under Diniz.

Vasco had already renewed his terms in April to 2026, opting for a shorter extension to ensure compensation and to revisit negotiations at year’s end. A positive relationship between the club, the player and his father helped this latest agreement.
