Vasco supporters staged a Sunday morning protest outside São Januário, demanding the club complete the sale of its SAF to Marcos Lamacchia.

The demonstration drew hundreds, with chants backing president Pedrinho and abuse aimed at former directors dismissed last week, organised by major supporters’ groups at the main façade. A large banner told Lamacchia that fans were waiting for him. José Roberto Lamacchia said the agreement to assume Vasco’s football is "está assinado e valendo", he told Globo.com.

On Tuesday night, the 4th Business Court of Rio de Janeiro removed Pedrinho from the SAF’s command and appointed lawyer Samantha Mendes Longo as intervener for 60 days.

Protesters pressed for the deal to be finalised. In an interview, Pedrinho said Marcos Lamacchia remains confident of completing the transfer of 90% of Vasco’s football assets.

Despite talk of a signed deal, there is still no formal agreement between the parties. Final points are being discussed, including how reinvestment from player sales would work. For now there is only a memorandum of understanding, an MOU.

The 83-year-old businessman also said the process was facing resistance from figures within the club, naming Felipe Carregal, the former legal vice-president, and Paulo Salomão, the former vice-president general. Both were targeted by insults at the protest.
