Vasco have enquired about signing Memphis Depay after the 32-year-old ended his spell at Corinthians, joining a four-club domestic chase. According to PaponaColina, the Rio side have sought the terms of a possible deal.
Alongside Vasco, Cruzeiro and Fluminense have shown interest. Two of the four are said to be willing to meet his salary demands from talks with the São Paulo club, around R$ 1.8 million a month. All Brazilian suitors have qualified for continental competition.
Depay chose not to renew owing to internal strains with Corinthians' board, feeling his efforts went unrecognised and that his image was used to distract from political and operational issues at the club.
Offers from France, Mexico, Türkiye, Qatar and Saudi Arabia arrived in recent weeks, but the forward prefers highly competitive leagues to maintain visibility and is open to another project in Brazil.
His adaptation to life in the country and social ties are factors, and he has business interests he plans to continue. Salary remains the main hurdle, although as a free agent there is no transfer fee, which helps talks.
Depay scored the Copa do Brasil title winner against Vasco at the Maracanã. The Dutchman came through PSV, then joined Manchester United, later starring for Lyon before spells at Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid. He is the Netherlands' record scorer with more than 50 goals.
