Vasco are monitoring Fiorentina’s Abdelhamid Sabiri as they seek the energetic midfield profile wanted by Fernando Diniz, with his deal up in June 2026.
SPFC Info reports the initial tip came from São Paulo-linked sources, adding São Paulo also monitor the 29-year-old and his name is circulating among Brazil’s biggest clubs this window.
Sabiri has had little game time in Florence, featuring in only two matches this season, and has returned from a loan at Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia. He is currently out of Fiorentina’s plans.
His contract runs to June 2026, which may ease an immediate release to save wages, or allow a pre-contract for a free move in the second half of the year.
Despite limited minutes, the Morocco international was part of the run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals. Right-footed and physically strong, he is known for long-range shooting and set-pieces.
He typically operates as a central attacking midfielder or drifting in from the left. Vasco are assessing whether he could adapt quickly and meet the physical demands of the Brazilian calendar.
Competition from São Paulo and interest from clubs in the Arab world are the main hurdles at this stage.
