Vasco ‘monitoring’ Douglas Luiz after initial contact, says Pedrinho

Vasco are closely tracking Douglas Luiz, contracted to Juventus and on loan at Nottingham Forest, after initial contact from the board, president Pedrinho said.

"There are many players who want to return to Vasco, and we also want them back. When a player has that desire, it is a good start, but it does not mean a deal is close," said Pedrinho, speaking to ESPN.

"Douglas Luiz has already been in touch with members of the board, and we are monitoring his situation. There are no concrete advances at the moment."

"It is a dream, he already knows that. We always keep that 'hello' open. When I was with the Brazil national-team delegation, I told former Vasco players that while I am president I want them to return, but these are difficult negotiations because they have all developed a lot in Europe."

For now, Vasco will continue to monitor the market, mindful of the financial and sporting hurdles in any potential move for the midfielder.
