Vasco are optimistic about signing Alan Lescano from Argentinos Juniors.

According to Globo.com, the club have a positive signal from the midfielder and are awaiting court approval of a R$ 150 million DIP loan to advance talks.

Argentinos Juniors last week acquired the remaining 50% of his economic rights from Gimnasia La Plata, aligning the move with talks to secure the full value of any sale.

The midfielder views a move to Brazilian football favourably and was emotional after Sunday’s game as fans urged him to stay. After facing Aldosivi in the Argentine league, he said he had focused on the match, did not know what will happen, and would speak to his representatives.

Vasco regard Lescano as a potential starter. He can play as a 10 close to the forwards or as an offensive 8, a profile missing from the squad.

The club expect a favourable decision early this week to secure cash flow and unlock late-window business. In addition to a midfielder, they are also seeking a centre-back.

The board plan on Monday to pay R$ 4.12 million to creditors via the CNRD of the CBF, covering January to August 2026. Non-payment by 31 August would trigger a transfer ban, though the payment is scheduled regardless of the loan.
