Vasco have opted against moving for free agent striker Deyverson this window, choosing to prioritise defensive reinforcements. According to PaponaColina, the former Fortaleza and Cuiabá forward was offered, but the club will not advance talks at this stage.
The stance is described as strategic, with the club believing the need for a goalscorer is already addressed after signing Brenner from Udinese, who arrives with starter status. The attack has also been bolstered by Colombian winger Marino Hinestroza, fitting Fernando Diniz’s set-up.
Adding another centre-forward could inflate the wage bill without an urgent technical need, so the offer was politely declined. President Pedrinho and sporting director Admar Lopes aim to be precise in the market and keep the squad balanced for a long campaign.
With the frontline addressed, attention turns to the back line, with left-back now the top priority. Monitoring for options in that position is under way, and it is the main objective in the coming weeks.
So far the window is positive for 2026, with four signings confirmed, centre-backs Alan Saldívia and Johan Rojas, plus attackers Marino Hinestroza and Brenner. Saldívia and Rojas have already been presented and have featured in the State Championship, underlining the plan to deliver players ready to contribute immediately.
