Vasco da Gama's 2026 rebuild is sweeping, with Victor Luís's move to Mirassol progressing and the tally hitting 15 departures by Tuesday 10. The plan is to slim a squad deemed bloated at the end of 2025 and free wages for bigger signings.
According to PaponaColina, the clear-out has spanned almost every area except in goal, prioritising squad players not in Fernando Diniz's plans.
Departures include right-back Paulinho, centre-backs Lucas Oliveira, Mauricio Lemos and Lyncon, left-backs Victor Luís, Leandrinho and Riquelme, defensive midfielders Sforza and Paulinho, midfielders Maxime and Ray, wingers Garré and Jean David, and forwards Rayan and Vegetti.
From that group, only Rayan, a homegrown prospect targeted by Europe, and Vegetti, a high earner for a reserve role, are seen as felt losses, though both exits were anticipated within financial and market planning.
Matheus França's situation is delicate. On loan from Crystal Palace, he is among the highest earners but has disappointed, and the football department has discussed ending the loan early to return him to Crystal Palace. The option is not ruled out, and he now needs an urgent upturn to justify staying.
New arrivals Rojas, Brenner and Spinelli have squeezed minutes for academy talents GB, JP and Estrella, who remain but must fight for game time. Meanwhile Adson, Tchê Tchê and David are considered negotiable if a good proposal arrives, yet still trusted and used in rotation.
