Vasco da Gama's SAF sale has entered its decisive final phase, following the public appearance of the lead investor, with talks now centred on pre-signing conditions and a potential contract signing during the upcoming pause in the sporting calendar.

According to PaponaColina, corporate lawyer and professor José Humberto said on Thursday 26 that businessman Marcos Lamacchia is directly leading negotiations and that legal structuring has advanced.

The deal, valued at around R$ two billion, would include the court-approved judicial recovery plan and the club's tax liabilities, alongside commitments to infrastructure, brand growth and a competitive first team.

A dispute with former operator 777 Partners, which holds 31%, is before arbitration and is being handled separately by the club, with internal transfer values of R$ 60 million to R$ 90 million set to avoid burdening the main transaction.

The chief uncertainty relates to new Brazilian football regulations. Representatives have held informal talks with the CBF's regulatory arm over the investor's family link to Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, seeking alignment with financial fair play before any signing.

To prevent a total restriction while his stepmother remains in office at the São Paulo club, the parties are studying distancing tools such as a European-style blind trust, which would temporarily remove the investor from day-to-day first-team decisions.

With drafts largely aligned, the lawyer forecast formalisation and an announcement in May, voiced high expectations and praised the management profile being shaped at Colina Histórica.
