Vasco have identified Coritiba coach Fernando Seabra as their preferred candidate and will meet him on Wednesday to advance talks, with optimism inside the club.

Seabra’s release clause is around R$ four million, which is not seen as an obstacle for Vasco. The club have also indicated a salary worth roughly three times his current Coritiba deal.

Seabra has heard positive accounts of how Vasco treat coaches under Pedrinho’s stewardship. The club’s legal issues are likewise not viewed as a barrier.

This season Seabra has taken charge of 28 Coritiba matches, with 11 wins, nine draws and eight defeats. The team are seventh in the Campeonato Brasileiro at present.

Vasco are seeking a successor to Renato Gaúcho, who left on 18 June by mutual consent. Discontent among part of the squad was the main reason for his exit.
